The last time I saw you, it was Monday evening. We were both in Xavier Hall, standing in the midst of a jam-packed waiting area. I clearly recall your last words to me, “Paalis na ako.“
I never really thought that it would be the last time we’d meet. If I only knew, maybe we could’ve spent more time last Monday.
Funny how when you least expect something to happen, it happens. People have asked how you died, but the details aren’t important. What truly matters is not how you DIED, but how you LIVED. Did you get to see all those people who went to your masses yesterday? All of them love and miss you dearly. You’re probably looking at us up above, smiling and laughing at how silly we all looked crying. Silly GabbyD.
I think I am slowly coming to accept the fact that you’re gone. Along with your absence lies a part of me feeling empty and at loss with your demise. Nobody can ever replace you in my life, dear Gabby.
I miss your g33k sp34ks and ORLY SRSLY moments. You were the only guy I knew who could get away with doing that to me. I also missed how you never failed to brighten my days with your smile and charm, and tease me constantly with this guy and that. You were one-of-a-kind, Gabby: brilliant, selfless, and inspiring.
Although you did leave many people behind—people who truly loved and cared about you, one thing’s for certain: you’re in a better place now.
Rest in peace, my dear Gabby.
