The Object of My Affection

One of my favorite romantic films of all time has got to be “The Object of My Affection” (1998), starring Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd. It’s you’re not-so-typical love story that could happen between friends — girl falls in love with guy, guy is actually gay. Girl loves guy, but guy loves other guy. And yes, it’s a story of slightly unrequited love.

Rodney: One shouldn’t be too hard on oneself when the object of one’s affection returns the favor with rather less enthusiasm than one might have hoped.

Nina: I want to look at you and not feel so hurt by you.

Nina: I want you to be with me, I want you to marry me, I want you to love me the way that I love you.

I just loved the way Nina (Aniston) said those words in one scene. Every emotion needed to convey heartbreak and yearning was captured through her eyes. And yes, being the romantic at heart, whenever I’d watch this film, I’d bawl to my heart’s content. :D Face it, I’m a sucker when it comes to sappy love stories, which is why, more often than not, I find myself bawling along with the characters of the movies I watch.

They say that the best guys in the world are either gay or committed. True dat. Sadness.

Constance: Do you love him?
Nina: Yeah, whatever that means.

What happens if the one you loved turned out to be gay?
Just a thought.

In other news today, someone told me that he greatly admired my spirit and personality, that he thinks that in the future, I’d do well in married or single life. He told me that any guy would be lucky to have me as a wife because of my supportive nature and practicality, but also mentioned that maybe in the future I would think that I’m better off without men (in his words, “high and mighty up there with no need for men”) and opt to live a single life.

I was simply mortified when he told me that. I knew he was trying to compliment me, but HELLO?! There’s no way I’m gonna remain single, that’s for sure. xD NO WAY, ya hear?

Someone out there’s definitely meant for me.
Someone out there’s definitely worth sacrificing for.
Someone out there’s definitely worth waiting for.

Someone.
Someday.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!! It’s really really heartbreaking, as in. My friends and I talked about that months ago. We asked each other, would you rather be left for another woman or another man?

I forgot what I answered.

I think I said that I’d rather be left for another guy because that means that it’s not me, it’s him. Lol! And that I’m the only girl he’s loved. Nyakkers!!!

Romantic comedies are my guilty pleasures… (pati yun mga teen movies haha)

Anyway, I added your link on my blog na. :)
